King of the Hammers

Posted: February 9th, 2011 under Uncategorized.

King of the Hammers is getting started out in Johnson Valley, California. My boss is out there right now, with Bestop’s Ford Raptor (but just for show – he refuses to race it!). He sent this snapshot of the booth he’s setting up. Looks like we’ve got a logo on the side of that race trailer right next door too! Pretty cool. (click on images to get full size).

If you’re out there this week, stop by and say hello to Jim.

If you want more info on this fast growing event, check it out here. Or just spend some time watching the videos on Youtube. Great fun!

UPDATES: new photos being sent from Jim’s phone:

The last image we got from KOH was this one, of the band playing at the party. Then, we got a late night cryptic post here on the blog that said Jim was giving away beer. The lack of photos may be directly related to the free beer. Who knows? Hopefully we’ll get some more photos today.

update again: More photos! Racing is under way and the crowd is growing.

This is “backdoor” – one of the rock crawling parts of this course.

The traffic gets backed up in these slower sections – it can get to be a real traffic jam.
