Bestop Sunrider for JK works great!

I purchased the Sunrider Twill Soft top for my 2011 JKU this past summer. I wanted to really use it before I wrote this review. After having it on my Jeep for the summer and early fall, I can say with certainty that it is really worth it! It is so easy to use that I find myself going semi-topless whenever the weather is cooperating. The T-Tops are nice to have, but I found myself not taking them off often because of the hassle of having to find a spot in my Jeep to store them. With the Sunrider, it's so easy. In less than a minute the top is undone, or back up. I have not noticed any leaks, even in heavy downpours. I wanted to be sure of this before writing this review. It does not leak! There is a little more wind noise, but nothing to get excited about. It looks great on my Jeep and I've gotten lots of compliments about it. There is one major drawback- the installation. In theory it's really easy, but in practice the bolts are not long enough by about 1/4 to 1/2 inch on the back of the guide rails that run along the top of the doors. I finally gave in after an hour or more of trying to fit the factory bolts and got a longer one in my garage. Then everything worked perfectly from then on. I read reviews before I purchased this, and several people mentioned this issue. The vendors don't acknowledge this problem and maybe it's not a problem for everyone, but it was for me. I think it's still worth it, just be advised if you're having trouble with the door rails and lining up the bolts, do yourself a favor had get a slightly long one for each side at the hardware store and it makes life a lot easier. Hopefully, Bestop will look into this issue and correct it. Other than that, I recommend the Sunrider for Jeep, you'll love it!

Rate 7/10 because it is so expensive for what you get!

It is really nice to be able to flip the top back so quickly like I can with my soft top in the summer... but the price point is ridiculously high! I've purchased complete retractable soft tops with four door rail system for the same price. This is 1/3 the materials and coverage size so the retail price really should reflect that. Also you obviously you have less sound and noise insulation than with the original freedom panels. I give it a 7/10 primarily because of the HIGH price point!

MUST HAVE

I absolutely love this piece. I used to drive a 2002 convertible and the best part was how quick I could just pull over and press a button to shut or open the roof. This piece allows for exactly that, one-handed open/close at a stoplight. When the family and I have the car fully loaded for vacations/groceries/camping, we don't have to worry about space in the back for the freedom panels. I usually flip the top down and don't even latch it if I'm running into a store or popping into a place, it keeps the seats/armrest/steering wheel from heating up. Best addition to the Jeep I've ever purchased. The Con......If you want to run completely topless, it's an additional piece that has to be removed.

High Quality

Some products seem expensive until you get them. The Sunrider for Hardtop is one of those products that you don’t know how much enjoyment it adds to your life until you get it. We all know how much of a struggle it is trying to find an opportunity to take the Freedom Pannels off, clean them so that you’re not getting grit and grime in the storage bag that would scratch them and then trying to find a place nect to your cooler in back to put them. You can’t leave them at home ... what if it rains? So, the Sunrider REALLY just simplifies the whole day, it’s an awesome product!
