In the shadow of the Rocky Mountain foothills in 1954, Tom Bradley started Bestop in a small upholstery shop in Boulder, Colorado. He envisioned a Jeep top that could easily open up to let in the pine-scented air and warm sun, making his drives even more enjoyable. So, he set to work with some canvas and a sewing machine. The idea of a soft top soon caught on, appealing to any Jeep owner hungry for driving adventure.
A short time later, working out of an old brick schoolhouse with seven employees, Bestop quickly earned a reputation for fit, function, and quality. In the decades to follow, Bestop continued to grow and its canvas soft tops were distributed throughout the United States, and even north across the border and overseas.
Today, more than 67 years later, Bestop is the leading manufacturer of premium soft tops for Jeep Wranglers and CJs in the world, and has been the exclusive provider of OE soft tops for Jeep Wranglers for more than three decades running.
Today, Bestop is located in Louisville, Colorado, just a short drive up the road from where our journey began. We’ve grown to more than 500 employees world-wide and continue to make the world’s finest soft tops and accessories for Jeep CJ and Wrangler, plus an expanding line of light truck accessories. We are also excited to help drivers enjoy open-air adventures in the new Ford Bronco in 2021. All Bestop-branded soft tops are designed and manufactured in North America.
Bestop has a long history of ground-breaking new products for Jeep Wrangler. Introduced in 1987, the Bestop Supertop set the gold standard for replacement soft tops for Wrangler and CJ models. Just a few years ago, we created the Trektop NX, which became the most popular and sought-after, premium soft top in the world.
Never one to rest on our laurels, the innovations have continued. Bestop keeps pushing the boundaries of soft-top technology with products like the Trektop Pro Hybrid, the first to combine soft top versatility with the convenience of a hard top rear glass hatch. For those driving enthusiasts who want open air, but perhaps aren’t ready for a full soft top, we invented the Sunrider for Hardtop. A first of its kind product, the Sunrider for Hardtop replaces the overhead “Freedom Panels” on Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator factory hardtops with an all-purpose, all-weather, year-round soft top that flips back easily for an open-air experience.
And why stop at tops? We took our decades of knowledge, real-world experience and manufacturing prowess and created Bestop Core Doors. These are super lightweight aluminum doors that allow you to easily remove the center panel for open-air fun and greater versatility.
