Great cover with a few big flaws

"Before my complaints, I should note this is probably the best trail top out there. I like it very much. 95% of this thing is outstanding from materials to stitch quality. However, the three rear stretchy straps that go around the taillights and spare are garbage. They become worthless in a few uses. These should have been made as lashing straps like the ones that hold the door flaps down. This makes it unable for you to cinch the back of the cover down, and since the tailoring of the cover barely overlaps the back perimeter of the body tub, you can end up with gaps. That feeds into my next issue. The tailoring of the back edge for the body tub overlap needs a few inches of downward overlap on the tub. Just barely overlapping the top rim, combined with the poor quality stretchy straps doesn't cut it. Third issue, the stow bag is too small. Due to the heave and good quality material of the top fabric, it's difficult to fold up, and even more difficult to fold tight enough to get into the stowing bag,"

Made well but one gripe about fit

"The BesTop cover is clearly made of quality material and is cut correctly for my 82 CJ7. But the CJ7 has sloping rear roll bar, not squared off like later Jeeps. This top would be perfect if it had more material at the rear - or, better yet, some more loops to cinch the end to the spare tire carrier. As it stands, water accumulates at the rear edge and this sags the cover inward such that a quart of water will eventually pour into the rear of the Jeep in heavy rains. When we get rain we only get 2 kinds here in Arizona: a 3 minute sprinkle just enough to dust spot your car or an intense downpour."

2008 Wrangler

"Cover fits great, but it is not waterproof. Seams leak and it will pocket water. I had to make a couple of panels to fit over the open areas when the top is off to help run the water off the top. Even with these in place the driver seat still gets soaking wet when it rains. great cover for keeping the Cottonwood snow out of the jeep!"

"Greatest accessories you can buy, especially if you have a hardtop. it keeps leaves, dirt, dust, cats, etc out for overnight storage. Very easy and fast to install. Let it set in the sun for a few hours to relax the fabric, then stretch it out (give it time to stretch). I love it. Bestop is the BEST. Thanks"

I have a 1986 cj7. this cover is supposed to fit but I do not have side rails. I have snaps on the side of my jeep. Will this cover fit or do i have to install the bestop side rail system also?: Hi Vinny, You'll need to install the side and rear corner rails in order for the Trail Cover to attach to the tub.
Will this fit a 1979 Jeep CJ5 also? I assume it will cover the same amount of area....if not more on a CJ5?: Hi Mike, Unfortunately this will not fit a CJ5 as the windshield and the body are different than on the CJ7, I apologize.
I have button snaps around the back Not the plastic insert to clamp in into place My question is does this cover also come with buttons My soft top is the same way: Hi Kevin, The YJ Trail Cover tucks under rails from the soft top on the sides of the tub and has elastic loops that wrap around your brake lights at the rear. It doesn't use snaps.
Is it possible to get one of the bottom adjustable straps for a 8103509 all weather trail cover .One of the traps broke on the hook at the bottom,where it hooks to the body.: Hi Bill, Yes, since its the strap with the hook on it, that isn't sewn to the cover, you can purchase that by calling Customer Service at 800.845.3567, option 1, M-F from 11am to 4pm, MST. Please be prepared for an extended hold time, they are experiencing higher than normal call volumes this busy season.
Will this top work if you don’t have any type soft top hardware on Jeep?: Hi Tim, The All Weather Trail Cover only works with no soft top on the Jeep, it does require the side and corner belt rails for the YJ though.
