Solid, but less functional than expected

"Don’t buy this top expecting to switch back/forth between hard top for winter and soft top for summer without significant work. You have to install metal tuck tabs on the tub to secure the bottom end of the soft top that aren’t compatible with the factory hard top. The same can be said about the channel you have to install on the windshield frame. With that said, the top does the job. It keeps the water out and integrates well with both the soft doors and the original hard doors. My biggest complaint is there’s no way to flip the front section of the soft top back. I’ve owned 3x bestop soft tops for jeeps and they all had this feature. I was admittedly disappointed. I’ll probably sell the soft top on FB Marketplace and go back to the factory hard top with hard doors for winter and soft doors for summer."

Soft Top

"One of the best purchases I have ever made. Besides the cruiser itself. It so beats having to put the hard top on every fall and remove every summer. All of the rattling is gone and it is every bit as warm to drive in the winter."

Works Great .... Last a VERY Long time.

"I got my soft top (FJ40) 20 years ago. Canvas is still in great shape. Windows are still clear. I haven't a single complaint. I just discovered that Besttop makes locking door handles now, so I visited the site to purchase some and thought I'd post a review. In interest of full disclosure: that green FJ40 you see on Besttop's web site is MY FJ40. That picture was taken about 20 years ago, give or take. I still have that same soft top, and it still looks just as good."

FJ40 Aftermarket Soft Top

"This top has some improvements over it's earlier model. No more snaps to hold it in place is a big plus. The zip out rear window clear panel is another nice modification. The fit is true and directions are vary good."

Like a new Land Cruiser

"My FJ40 already had a Bestop soft top, but it was probably a dozen or more years old. Replacing it with this new one was a breeze and it made a night and day difference in the noise level inside. Great product with clear instructions."

New Top for 1973 FJ40 Landcrusier

"The top was straight forward to put on, and works as expected. Due to the frame of the FJ not being stock there are a few added velcro attachments we had to add. The back window does not have straps to simply roll it up. You have to unzip it completely, it isn't the easiest to zip back together. I added velcro straps, would be great if they were added along with the other straps that snap to the top portion that can be rolled up."

Fj40 soft top

"Great top! Better fabric than original I had for many years ... I ordered skin only without the bows...did not come with a rear window...I need to get one for a clear rear view"

Q&A

I need to replace my older bestop super top on my 1970 Fj40. My bows are still in great shape so I just need the top without the bows. Could you give me a price quote for that?
Hi Rocky, You can call Customer Service at 800.845.3567, option 3, Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm, MT, to get a price on just the roof and windows, however I feel its more cost effective to purchase the top as a whole.
Does this soft top include the doors!
Hi Jana, No, the doors are sold separately.
I need to renew my Bestop on my 1970 FJ40 but my bows are still in great shape. How much would you charge for a new super top without the bows?
Hi Rocky, If you haven't already, give Customer Service a call, they can look up the bow part numbers, pricing and availability for you! 800.845.3567.
Do the sides roll up?
Hi Jay, Yes, the sides roll up.
hello; I have a 1978 FJ40 Landcruiser and need a complete new soft top with frame. Can you ship to Switzerland? Also with the frame is the track that fastens the bottom of the soft top onto the vehicle body included. Can you please let me know as soon as possible as I need a replacement as fast as possible. Thanks Robert Campbell
Hi Robert, I believe we ship to Switzerland however I would double check with Customer Service. The screws to attach the belt rails are included. CS can be reached at 800.845.3567, option 3, Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm, MST.
