"To start out with,if you are not handy with tools you might want to consider having it installed by a professional. There was a few minor issues with burrs left from manufacturing. The instructions state it should be installed in temperatures 72°f. If Don't have a heated garage, it'll be a chore. It is a very fine product."

Good topper but questionable QC

"I'll start this review by saying that I finally got everything together and it looks and works great. However, there were an alarming number of basic quality issues with anything that involved machining of parts. For example, to just start Step 1 in the installation, the threading for the set screws was not done well on cleaned out of debris resulting in 3 of the 4 set screws becoming stuck and unable to move. After breaking an allen wrench trying to remove them by hand and then ending up with stripped headings trying to use power tools, I had to resort to coring out the screws to remove them, buying a thread tapping kit, getting new screws, and rethreading the holes myself. Ultimately this ended working and I was able to move on. I had some issues with debris in other threading but I was able to resolve that. Lastly, the holes for the spring loaded buttons to attach to the two sides had significant burrs left from the machining process. 5 of the 8 were bad enough that I was not able to get the pieces set without having to use tools I happen to keep around to remove the burrs. All in all, the large parts all seem high quality and it looks good but knowing what I do now, I would be hesitant to recommend to anyone who doesn't have a decent set of tools on hand to fix quality issues with the small assembly related parts. I contacted customer service regarding the issue two days ago. I got an initial reply about replacement parts but I'm waiting to hear back regarding a final resolution."

Great soft top, just wish

"Great soft top, just wish there were window panel options, as there had been on previous models. The assembly instructions were just enough? Had to drill out some quick-connect holes, and was disappointed to find the only video assist available form BesTop was a promotional video that wasn’t helpful at all in assembly. If you’re not handy with tools, go with a Softopper."

Does the job, as expected!

"Great top! Bought direcly froim BestTop and it arrived faster than expected for my '21 Silverado 1500. The only caveats are that if you're not handy with tools (and have some outside the OEM recommended for assembly), or at following limited instructions without any video support, you might want to try the SoftTop? The stapled instructions provided were enough, but when I followed the 'need help?' URL to videos hoping to find just a bit of clarification, the only video I found was a marketing video...not helpful for assembly - though I'll agree, it's a nice marketing video. I was also glad to have a cordless drill in my kit, along with a complete set of bits, so I could clear and/or widen the holes in the aluminum frame so they would lock - these would not have locked in place if I hadn't drilled out the holes. I've traveled with the top up and windows zipped-in as well as 'bikini' mode and it's still attached, so it's doing the job. It really is well engineered, and once assembled works as intended, but the manufacturing needs some fine tuning, and in these times, at least one installation video would likely cover any gaps in the written instructions."

Pretty versatile topper for my needs

"I have had this too for about a year now. Overall it has held up well and provides a lot of versatility. I like that I can fold it down if I get somewhere and decide to buy something large. I like that I can remove the side panels and back window but still provide shade for my dog in the back. Taking the whole top off is also pretty easy and takes up way less room than a fiberglass shell. The couple of down sides are it does not seal up very well and leaks pretty bad if you wash the truck, even if you are being careful. Seems okay in the rain. Secondly, I wish it came with some kind of storage case for the back window and sides so the window would be protected from scratches. I also would be interested in screens for the sides for summer camping."

Q&A

Do you sell replacement parts? I.E. the flaps that hold the sides when rolled up. My rivets broke. Also Can you buy the back screen?: Hi there, You can purchase replacement parts by calling Customer Service, 800.845.3567, option 1, Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm, MST. The Supertop for Truck 2 only has the rear window that's replaceable, the side panels are solid panels, which can also be replaced but we don't offer a window for the sides.
Couple of questions. Do you make a top that will work with a retractable hard tonneau cover on chevy Silverado? Also does this fit under the venture rack sold by chevy or do I need to find a different overland rack? IF so what brands will this fit under. This will be sparingly used so I need it to work with these parameters if possible.: Hi Brian, We have our Supertop for Truck 2 that has a compatible Supertop for Truck 2 Tonneau that's soft, the top isn't compatible with a hard Tonneau. We haven't tested either of these products with the factory Chevy rack or any other manufactures rack unfortunately, so I'm not sure of the compatibility, I apologize.
I ride dirtbikes, when the top is down and rolled up will the top conflict with the dirtbike tires and tie downs? Im assuming these tops are worthy of freeway travels while deployed? Is this a one piece cover or are there welded or sewn seams? Waterproof?: Hi Dave, The top is water resistant. We haven't tested the top folded in the down position with dirt bikes in the bed so I couldn't say if the tires would touch or not? The top is worthy of highway speeds while up and its a one piece top.

Does this item come with a rear brake tail light for the top of the cover?: Hi Drew, Yes, the top comes with the 3rd brake light.
